The way you begin your morning shapes the way you carry your day. Again and again, Scripture shows the people of God seeking Him first — David directing his prayer in the morning (Psalm 5:3), Jesus rising a great while before day to pray (Mark 1:35). These fourteen morning prayer points are each built on a specific verse, so your first words of the day are God's own words prayed back to Him.
You do not need a long quiet time to pray them — even a few, spoken before your feet hit the floor, will set your heart. Take them in order or choose the ones that meet you where you are, and let each one close, as they all do, in the name of Jesus.
1. Psalm 5:3 — "My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up." Father, before anything else today I direct my prayer to You and lift my eyes; hear my voice this morning, in the name of Jesus.
2. Lamentations 3:23 — "They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." Lord, I receive Your mercies that are new this morning; I set my heart on Your great faithfulness for all that today holds, in Jesus' name.
3. Psalm 90:14 — "O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days." Father, satisfy me early with Your mercy, that gladness and not anxiety would mark every hour of this day, in the mighty name of Jesus.
4. Psalm 143:8 — "Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee." Lord, let me hear Your lovingkindness this morning and show me the way I should walk; I lift up my soul to You, in Jesus' mighty name.
5. Psalm 59:16 — "But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble." Father, I begin this day singing of Your power and mercy; be my defence and my refuge again today, through Christ our Lord.
6. Mark 1:35 — "And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed." Lord Jesus, teach me to seek You first as You sought the Father before dawn; let this quiet time anchor my whole day, in the name of the Lord Jesus.
7. Psalm 63:1 — "O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is." Father, early I seek You; my soul thirsts for You more than for anything this day promises — satisfy me with Yourself, in Jesus' precious name.
8. Psalm 30:5 — "For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." Lord, whatever grief the night held, I receive the joy that comes with the morning; let Your gladness rise in me now, in the name of Jesus.
9. Isaiah 33:2 — "O Lord, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble." Father, be my strength this morning and my salvation in every trouble the day may bring; I have waited for You, in Jesus' name.
10. Psalm 92:2 — "To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night." Lord, let my first act today declare Your lovingkindness, and let Your faithfulness carry me all the way to nightfall, in the mighty name of Jesus.
11. Psalm 119:147 — "I prevented the dawning of the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy word." Father, before the day fully dawns I bring my cry to You and set my hope on Your Word; let it steady me through every hour, in Jesus' mighty name.
12. Psalm 88:13 — "But unto thee have I cried, O Lord; and in the morning shall my prayer prevent thee." Lord, my morning prayer rises to meet You before my day begins; go before me into everything I will face, through Christ our Lord.
13. Psalm 118:24 — "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." Father, I receive this day as Your gift; I choose to rejoice and be glad in it, whatever it holds, in the name of the Lord Jesus.
14. Proverbs 8:17 — "I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me." Lord, I seek You early because I love You; meet me now as You have promised, and let me find You afresh this morning, in Jesus' precious name.
However the day unfolds, you have already given Him the first word. RhemaOS can turn any verse into a personalised morning prayer — Scripture-anchored, and always closing in the name of Jesus — so seeking Him first becomes a daily habit you can keep.
