Praying for a son is more than asking God to keep him safe. It is interceding for the kind of man he is becoming — a man formed by Scripture, courageous without cruelty, responsible without pride, and strong enough to serve. These prayers focus on masculine identity under Christ, integrity, courage, and a calling that blesses others.
Anchor Scripture
“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)
Father, I declare Proverbs 22:6 over my son — train him in the way he should go, and let the truth planted in him remain when he is grown. Form in him a personal love for Your Word, not borrowed religion, so that his convictions become his own and his life stays anchored when he must make decisions without me, in Jesus' name.
Lord, make my son strong and courageous in the pattern of Joshua 1:9 — not reckless, harsh, or driven by ego, but courageous because You are with him. Give him strength to tell the truth when lying is easier, to stand alone when compromise is popular, and to defend what is right without losing gentleness, in Jesus' name.
Father, shape his character according to Micah 6:8 — to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with You. Protect him from counterfeit ideas of manhood built on domination, appetite, money, or applause. Let Jesus, who came not to be served but to serve (Mark 10:45), define the kind of man and leader my son becomes, in Jesus' name.
Holy Spirit, awaken the gifts and leadership potential You placed in my son. Ephesians 2:10 says he is Your workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works prepared beforehand. Teach him to carry responsibility faithfully, influence others without pride, and use every gift to lift people rather than prove himself, in Jesus' name.
Lord, establish my son's future in integrity. Proverbs 20:7 says the just man walks in his integrity and his children are blessed after him. Let him become that kind of man — faithful in private, dependable in public, tender toward his family, and steadfast toward You. May his life leave a godly inheritance beyond his own generation, in Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray beyond safety and success. Pray for courage with humility, integrity when no one is watching, a personal relationship with Christ, wise friendships, sexual purity, responsibility, and the discovery of his God-given calling. Proverbs 22:6, Joshua 1:9, Micah 6:8, and Ephesians 2:10 are strong anchors.
Use Jesus as the model rather than a cultural stereotype. Mark 10:45 presents leadership as service; Micah 6:8 joins justice, mercy, and humility; Proverbs 20:7 emphasises integrity. Ask God to make your son courageous enough to obey, humble enough to learn, and strong enough to serve others.
