Prayer of Intercession — 5 Scripture-Based Prayer Points
Intercession is standing before God on behalf of someone else — borrowing their need and presenting it as your own prayer. It is one of the highest callings of the believer and has changed the course of history throughout Scripture.

Prayer Points
Father, I come before You in intercession — standing in the gap for those who cannot or will not pray for themselves. Ezekiel 22:30 reveals that You look for someone to stand in the gap before You for the land. I answer that call now, presenting myself as a vessel of intercession, in Jesus' name.
Holy Spirit, help me to pray as I ought — Romans 8:26 promises that when I do not know what to pray, You intercede through me with groanings too deep for words. I yield to that intercession now, asking You to pray through me for every situation and person You lay on my heart, in Jesus' name.
Lord, I lift up those in authority — 1 Timothy 2:1-2 specifically calls for intercession for kings and all who are in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in godliness. I pray for those in leadership over my nation, city, church, and workplace, asking You to give them wisdom and righteousness, in Jesus' name.
Father, I intercede for the lost — I echo Paul's heart in Romans 10:1: my heart's desire and prayer to You for those I love is that they would be saved. I pray against every spiritual blindness (2 Corinthians 4:4), every hardened heart, and every distraction keeping them from Your gospel, in Jesus' name.
Lord, as Abraham interceded for Lot's city (Genesis 18), as Moses stood between Israel and Your judgment (Exodus 32:11-14), I bring my intercession before You now. Let Your mercy triumph over judgment (James 2:13), and let every person and situation I carry in prayer receive Your sovereign attention, in Jesus' name, Amen.

What is the difference between prayer and intercession?
Prayer is a broad category covering any communication with God. Intercession specifically refers to prayer on behalf of another person or situation — you are making a plea to God for someone else. The word means 'to come between' — you stand between God and a need, petitioning Him to act.
How do I intercede effectively for someone?
Pray specifically, using their name and the exact need. Ground your prayer in Scripture that addresses their situation. Persist — Luke 18:1-8 teaches persistent intercession through the parable of the persistent widow. And yield to the Holy Spirit who intercedes through you (Romans 8:26) when you run out of words.
